FYI: The various steps of this assignment are worth participation points. The FINAL VERSION of this project counts as your FINAL EXAM for this class.

If you keep up with each due date, I will be able to offer you feedback. Revisions are encouraged and expected.

See BELOW for an overview of this assignment and initial due dates, and use the "Categories" section to the right to easily skip to each step/component of the project.

Overview - About this Assignment

The process of writing a screenplay based on a novel/book is called "adaptation" - obviously, not everything from the book could make it onto the screen, or we'd be sitting there for days. It's time to take a hard look at these kinds of choices - you'll be creating an argumentative analysis project regarding the effectiveness of these choices. We call this assignment an adaptation analysis.

Your project will analyze the overall success of the film adaptation. You may choose to compare the stories (which are often drastically edited in the films), the imagery of the author’s words with the cinematography of the film, the sensory details of the book with the sound design of the film, and your personal reaction to the tone/mood of each, as well.
